Hello

Mid Downs Radio has been on air for over 45 years and we’re still going strong thanks to our wonderful team of volunteer presenters , production and technical experts and supportive membership steered by a hardworking and dedicated committee.

We have evolved and changed over the years moving from a broom cupboard in Cuckfield hospital to fully equipped studios on the first floor of the Princess Royal Hospital but our core role remains the same. We broadcast a variety of music , entertainment, hospital and health information as well as social and community news all day every day to the patients, staff and visitors in the PRH and now to the wider community thanks to our Listen Live online facility. This means that no matter where they are no one, particularly the ill, lonely or vulnerable needs to feel isolated. Even during lockdown our production team made sure our service continued uninterrupted in addition to providing regularly updated bulletins on the latest hospital and medical COVID advice.

We are very proud of what we have achieved to date and continue to move forward with new ideas and equipment. New members of all ages are always welcome. Hospital radio has long been an established training ground for broadcasting talent, but we can also offer experience in other areas like production and technical. At the moment we are not able to carry out request collecting around the wards but our Outside Events Unit is a well known sight at many local events and offers opportunities to meet people and for live compering for everything from village fairs to dog shows.

Whether you’re a listener or a member it’s true to say that ‘You’re never alone - with Mid Downs Radio’ . We hope you enjoy our latest magazine / website and look forward to playing your requests and dedications one day!
