Poppa Roy can call himself a true cockney as he was born within the sound of Beau bells, which he is very happy to tell people is not Bow but the bells of St. Mary La Beau.  

Roy left the East End of London when he was 10 years old and moved to Dublin in Southern Ireland and then back to London where he owned a successful hair and nail business before moving to Spain.He joined the English theatre in Fuengirola  where he played leading roles in Fiddler on the Roof, South Pacific and many other productions. When he came to Haywards Heath he formed the Poppa Roy Players and has directed and performed in many shows for local charities.

As well as volunteering as a presenter Roy is a regular volunteer in the hospital reception.
